Leslie Nielsen once again plays a bumbling detective in the vein of the 'Naked Gun' movies, but this time as Marshall Richard 'Dick' Dix. When odd reports are received through official channels stating that the President of the United States is being held captive on a secret international moon base called Vegan and that he has been replaced on Earth by a clone, the US Marshall Service immediately sends their 'best' man, Dix, on the mission. Dix travels to Vegan to rescue the president, but is quickly duped and ends up returning to Earth where he installs the clone-president and removes the real one. The bumbling Dix must then find a way to restore the real president before aliens take over the Earth, and restore in himself a belief in truth, justice and the American way.

In the undercard, The Hardcore Championship was defended by Rob Van Dam against The Undertaker, Edge defended the Intercontinental Championship against William Regal, Big Show and Kane challenged The Dudley Boyz for the Tag team Championship belts, and Trish Stratus fought Jacqueline for the Women's Championship.

Cannonball Run 2001 was a reality television series broadcast on the USA Network in 2001. It was inspired by the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, an outlaw road race of the 1970s which was the source for the famous Cannonball Run movies. The show featured a series of five location-specific challenges along a New York-to-Los Angeles course, as in the original race. Development of the series started without the participation of Brock Yates, organizer of the original Cannonball and holder of the trademark; indeed, the production company paid Yates for the use of the name just before the show debuted. Yates was not pleased with the series, as he felt it was fake and staged. In 2005, Yates teamed up with a Cannonball driver and film producer J Sanchez to produce a more authentic reality series called Cannonball: This Is Reality to run alongside the actual One Lap of America race. The project was shelved in 2006 due to lack of interest from networks.

Elevation 2001: Live from Boston is a concert film by Irish rock band U2. It was released as a two disc DVD set by Island Records in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2001, and by Interscope Records in the United States a month later. The video documents three concerts by the band performed in Boston, Massachusetts during the first American leg of their 2001 Elevation Tour. It was the first of two video releases from the tour, the second being U2 Go Home: Live from Slane Castle, Ireland. Elevation 2001 has received certifications in several regions including Mexico, where it was certified gold based on imports alone, and the United States, where it became the band's highest video album. The first disc contains the concert footage shot in the normal perspective, while the second disc contains alternate camera feeds from a small recorder in Bono's trademark glasses, showing unique footage from the band while on and off stage. Several bonus features were also included on both discs.
Makoto Aida, 23, is a first year detective...a rookie. The only thing the rookie detective has going for him is the fact that he is a nice guy. Thinking that he can beat the recession by becoming a civil servant, Makoto takes all kinds of employment exams. The only one he passes though is to become a police officer. After becoming a policeman, Makoto gets assigned to work as a cop in rural, Okutama, and begins to look forward to the easy life. He somehow winds up helping out in the apprehension of a suspect of a brutal crime, and gets awarded a letter of recommendation, which incidentally is to become a detective. Love in a Cold Climate is a British television serial drama produced by the BBC in association with WGBH Boston, and first broadcast in two parts on BBC One on 4 and 11 February 2001. The serial was adapted by Deborah Moggach from Nancy Mitford's novels The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate, and was directed by Tom Hooper. It stars Rosamund Pike as Fanny, Elisabeth Dermot Walsh as Linda, Megan Dodds as Polly, Alan Bates as Uncle Matthew, and Celia Imrie as Aunt Sadie. Further roles are played by an all-star cast. The production staff researched the nature of Mitford's novels by interviewing her surviving sister Deborah. The serial was accompanied by an Omnibus profile of Mitford and a documentary series entitled The Mitford World on BBC Knowledge. Love in a Cold Climate was nominated for two British Academy Television Awards; Bates was nominated for Best Actor, and the production team received nominations in the Costume Design and Production Design categories. A previous mini-series adaptation of Love in a Cold Climate was broadcast in 1980, starring Judi Dench, Michael Aldridge and Vivian Pickles.
